Pearson’s quest for London glory starts in Oslo
The IAAF’s female “Athlete of the Year” for 2011 will start her European campaign at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games in Oslo. Pearson was nothing short of sensational in 2011, highlighted by an emphatic win at the World Championships in Daegu, Korea. Her winning time of 12.28 for the 100m hurdles was the fourth fastest time ever recorded for the event and has earmarked the 2008 Olympic silver medallist as a clear favourite for the event at the London Olympics later this year.

Bekele returns to Bislett
Ethopia’s Kenenisa Bekele, the man universally regarded as the greatest distance runner of all time will contest the 5000m at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games in Oslo on June 7th. Bekele a multi medallist at World Championships and Olympic Games will use the race in the Samsung Diamond League as an important ingredient in his preparation to defend his 5000m Gold medal in London Olympic Games later this year.

Powell to challenge Bolt at Bislett on 7 June
The former 100m World Record holder, Asafa Powell, will be competing at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games on 7 June, 2012, giving the Bislett audience the chance to watch the two men go head to head only a few weeks ahead of the Olympics in London.

Usain Bolt to run 100m at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games – Samsung Diamond League
The triple World record holder, Usain Bolt, will be competing in the ExxonMobil Bislett Games on 7th June in Oslo, Norway in the 100 metres.<br />The meeting in Oslo is one of 14 Samsung Diamond League meets in 2012 and the first in which Bolt has confirmed his participation.

2011 Bislett Games Event Review
The Samsung Diamond League event in Oslo is history. What to say after this memorable night at the Bislett stadium? That Usain Bolt is back in business? He never was out, “business was just slow”, he told the media at the final Press Conference. That he was happy with his race? Of course, he was just 4/100 of a second over the stadium record set by Frank Fredricks in 1996. “I would like to come back in good shape next year”, he said. Or that he doesn’t like snow and winter that much? We know, “I’m a sunshine person.”

10 pm – Bolt crowns himself King of Bislett
It started to rain around 9:25 pm, and it was a heavy rain which lasted for the rest of the meet. In these adverse weather conditions, Men’s Javelin Throw finished with a big surprise. Home town hero Andreas Thorkildson, injured, wasn’t at the start, and everybody expected a win of Finnish Tero Pitkämäki who was first at the Bislett Games in 2005, 2007 and 2009. But the 2007 World Champion finished in fifth spot (80.22m) and far away from the winner. Matthias de Zordo from Germany threw the Javelin at 83.94m and won in front of Robert Osthuizen (RSA/82.07) and Petr Frydrych (CZE/81.09).

9.37 pm - Semenya only third
There are just 10 minutes between now and the appearance of King Bolt, the fastest man in the World. But the action goes on and on at the Bislett stadium.

8.47 pm – Bye bye Moses Kiptanui, welcome Paul Koech!
1 hour to go, and Usain Bolt is now warming up somewhere in the catacombs of the Bislett stadium.

8.05pm - Northug beats Hellner also at the Bislett stadium
1.42 hours remain to bridge, and then it is Usain Bolt time. But the 2011 Bislett Games are rich in highlights!

7.48pm – Shot Put Women with Stadium record
2.00 hours, and it will be time for the highlight of the evening, the 200m men with Jamaica’s superstar Usain Bolt. At 7.30pm, he entered the stadium saying: “I will try my best”. He took a look at Marcus Hellner and Petter Northug jr. on their rollerskis and said: “I have never been on skis, and I think they are better on snow.” Both were introduced to Bolt, pictures were taken. Then, Bolt gave “High Fives” to the girls of the Opening Show and left to prepare for his race.
