3000m steeple chase: World Lead, Meet Record and African Record.
The women's steeple chase in Oslo turned out to be a fast race. The winner was Milcah Chemos of Kenya in 9:07.14 and also the two Ethiopians in second and third place was well below the previous world lead time, 9:09.00 and 9:09.16, respectively.
Bekele beaten in Oslo
e won in Oslo in 2003. He won again in 2009. And here he was, back again: Kenenisa Bekele. Once again the 29-year old was the favorite for the men’s 5000m but as it turned out he couldn’t perform as expected. In the end of the long race fellow Ethiopian Dejen Gebremeskel was the winner – with a time of 12:58.92. "Very satisfied wiht the race, fast time and Olympic qualification. Why not go for a medal in London? And yes we are the new generation of Ethiopian runners. My next race is in Paris."<br />He was 0.7 seconds in front of Hagos Gebrhiwet (ETH) who scored a new personal best. Bekele came in fourth and was by all means disappointed with his race.
Perkovic defeats big competitor Müller
One of the first big duels this evening was at the women’s discus throw between Oslo’s previous winner and 2nd in the current World Ranking Nadine Müller current Diamond League leader Sandra Perkovic.

It is THE event of this years Bislett Games: The 100m men’s sprint and the big Jamaican duel Usain Bolt vs. Asafa Powell - the World’s fastest man against the one with the most runs under 10 seconds. For the two of them the sprint will be a key event on their road to the London 2012 Olympics.

Thorkildsen and de Zordo duel each other at the Bislett Games There’s not just one big duel to follow at this years Bislett Games – next to Bolt vs. Powell there’s Thorkildsen vs. de Zordo. With three Olympic Gold medals and various Championships medals the 30-year old Andreas Thorkildsen is by far the best javelin thrower of our time. But the six year younger Matthias de Zordo is not only the reigning World Champion he’s also advancing to be Thorkildsens’ biggest competitor.
Bolt attends "Race Against Malaria" in Oslo
It wasn’t quite like the Justin Bieber-hype Oslo experienced last Wednesday but there was some hype for sure the moment Usain Bolt climbed out of his black van at point 17:50 at Karl Johans Gaten. His tight schedule before the Bislett Games allowed just a short stop at this years edition of the “Race Against Malaria” but the fastest man alive made sure he made the most out of it – for the charity runners and for the hundreds of spectators waiting along Karl Johans Gate.
Sally Pearson ready to go
Sally Pearson: “I’m still in a daze but ready to go!” She suffered through 29 hours on planes and crossed half the world to come to Norway but hurdles super-star Sally Pearson nevertheless seems in good spirits during the press conference at the Thon Hotel Opera on Tuesday.

2012 the Year of Thorkildsen
In 2012 Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen will have just one focus retaining his Olympic gold medal in the javelin and therefore achieving “legendry” status by winning three consecutive Olympics. Although his motivation is London, Thorkildsen will want a bold showing in the upcoming ExxonMobil Bislett Games to reaffirm his confidence for later in the year. After a purposely slow start to his competitive season, Thorkildsen showed recently in Ostrava that he is rounding into very good form and that really big throws are imminent. In the past one of the venues where he has excelled is at Oslo’s Bislett stadium where he recorded his personal best throw of 91.59m!
