Usain Bolt to compete at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games – Samsung Diamond League
The world’s greatest sports star will run at the Bislett Stadium for the third year in a row. Usain Bolt will return to Oslo, Norway and the ExxonMobil Bislett Games on Thursday 13 June 2013 where he will be competing in the 200metres. The meeting in Oslo is the sixth of the 14 meets in the world athletics series, the Samsung Diamond League.
ExxonMobil continues the race for ExxonMobil Bislett Games
ExxonMobil in Norway has signed a new contract with the Bislett Alliance to continue as the title sponsor of the traditional athletic event at the Bislett Stadium this summer.
3000m steeple chase: World Lead, Meet Record and African Record.
The women's steeple chase in Oslo turned out to be a fast race. The winner was Milcah Chemos of Kenya in 9:07.14 and also the two Ethiopians in second and third place was well below the previous world lead time, 9:09.00 and 9:09.16, respectively.
Bekele beaten in Oslo
e won in Oslo in 2003. He won again in 2009. And here he was, back again: Kenenisa Bekele. Once again the 29-year old was the favorite for the men’s 5000m but as it turned out he couldn’t perform as expected. In the end of the long race fellow Ethiopian Dejen Gebremeskel was the winner – with a time of 12:58.92. "Very satisfied wiht the race, fast time and Olympic qualification. Why not go for a medal in London? And yes we are the new generation of Ethiopian runners. My next race is in Paris."<br />He was 0.7 seconds in front of Hagos Gebrhiwet (ETH) who scored a new personal best. Bekele came in fourth and was by all means disappointed with his race.
Perkovic defeats big competitor Müller
One of the first big duels this evening was at the women’s discus throw between Oslo’s previous winner and 2nd in the current World Ranking Nadine Müller current Diamond League leader Sandra Perkovic.

The Samsung Diamond League moves to Oslo, Norway for the traditional ExxonMobil Bislett Games. This year marks the 25th anniversary of ExxonMobil’s sponsorship of Norway premier invitational track and field meeting. With three Olympic Gold medals and various Championships medals the 30-year old Andreas Thorkildsen is by far the best javelin thrower of our time. But the six year younger Matthias de Zordo is not only the reigning World Champion he’s also advancing to be Thorkildsens’ biggest competitor.
Bolt attends "Race Against Malaria" in Oslo
It wasn’t quite like the Justin Bieber-hype Oslo experienced last Wednesday but there was some hype for sure the moment Usain Bolt climbed out of his black van at point 17:50 at Karl Johans Gaten. His tight schedule before the Bislett Games allowed just a short stop at this years edition of the “Race Against Malaria” but the fastest man alive made sure he made the most out of it – for the charity runners and for the hundreds of spectators waiting along Karl Johans Gate.
Sally Pearson ready to go
Sally Pearson: “I’m still in a daze but ready to go!” She suffered through 29 hours on planes and crossed half the world to come to Norway but hurdles super-star Sally Pearson nevertheless seems in good spirits during the press conference at the Thon Hotel Opera on Tuesday.
