9.37 pm – Semenya only third

There are just 10 minutes between now and the appearance of King Bolt, the fastest man in the World. But the action goes on and on at the Bislett stadium.

No victory for Caster Semenya (RSA) in the Women’s 800m race. The reigning World Champion finished in 1:58.61 which means a season’s best for her, but it was only good enough for third place. The victory went to Halima Hachlaf in 1:58.27 (2011 World Lead Time) in front of Mariya Savinova (RUS) who ran a Season’s best in 1:58.44.

With a Season’s best of 13.12, Aries Merrit (USA) ran to victory in the Men’s 110m hurdles. With 13.15, runner-up Dwight Thomas set a new Jamaican National record. Third placed Joel Brown (USA) made it to the finish line in 13.20 and achieved a personal best.
