The giants’ fight at the men’s hurdles

For the first time this season they are set to face each other in a competition that fans all over the world want to see.

Oslo’s Bislett stadium has in the past hosted some of the most relevant clashes in the history of the sport. 

Now we re looking forward to a similar race at the men’s long hurdles. 

Samba has been outstanding in the early season with a personal best over 400 meters (44.60); as well as taking the 400-meter hurdles title at the Asian Games in a remarkable of 47.51 in April.
He followed this with emphatic victory at the Shanghai Diamond League, where he recorded another season’s best of 47.27. 

But Karsten Warholm has not been inactive since last year either. He broke 45 seconds for 400 meters indoors, and added the gold for that event at the European Indoor Championships to his growing collection. Then, in his first outdoor competition for season 2019, he smashed the opposition on an extremely windy and chilly night in Stockholm in an eye catching 47.85.

So, the two best in the world will face the starter’s gun in Oslo’s famed Bislett Stadium over ten barriers. Samba is the Asian Champion and undoubtedly the world number one. The other is the World and European Champion over the distance, racing in the capital city of his home country.  

Abderrahman Samba vs Karsten Warholm is a true clash in the traditions of Bislett & can be regarded as a factual “heavyweight” contest.

The race includes the top five on the IAAF event ranking which means that Kyron McMaster, Yasmani Copello and Rasmus Mägi all are ready for Oslo Bislett Games.
