Powell: Easy walk into 100m final
Even without pushing to his limit, Asafa Powell (JAM) showed strength in his 100m preliminary heat at Oslo’s Bislett Games today. The world’s fastest this year got first place in comfortable 10.05 seconds. Second placed Trell Kimmons (USA) achieved a personal best with 10.09, third placed Martial Mbandjock (FRA) finished also in 10.09 which meant a personal best this season.
In the first preliminary heat, Richard Thompson (TRI) won in 10.08 in front of Michael Frater (JAM/10.08) and local hero Jaysuma Saidy Ndure (10.09). Ndure had the fastest reaction time of his heat (0.144 seconds, compared to Powell’s 0.135).
Also qualified for the final heat at 9 pm local time are Lerone Clarke (JAM/10.10/SB) and Churandy Martina (AHO/10.11).
