For the first time in history, the fastest para-athletes in the world gather at 100 meters. The athletes are Paralympic champions and World Record holders in their respective classes. Now they will gather for the first time to vote for the fastest - regardless of class.
It is an open and honest 100 meters where the first person to finish wins. In other words, no adjustment for disability or class. All against all.
The athletes have a personal record of 10.82 or better, and with athletes from six different classes, it is for the first time possible to set six World Records in the same heat.
- It is really planned for a party night at Bislett, where for the first time there is both start money and prize money in a para event. In addition, they organizers have taken all the costs for bringing the athletes to the meeting, and in this way have given these superstars the framework they deserve. This will be a unique opportunity to see the seven roughest para-athletes in the world run together, says responsible for para-athletics in the Norwegian Athletics Association Runar Steinstad.
- To achieve this, we have had to bring in an external partner, and without the commitment and dedication of Aker Horizon, this historic 100-meter would not have taken place.
- We are infinitely proud that we have achieved this historic 100-meter in Norway and during the Oslo Bislett Games.
- We are confident that this will help to strengthen the interest in para sports in Norway and raise the enthusiasm of all the volunteers around who every day make an effort for athletes with disabilities to experience mastery and enjoyment of sports on equal terms as the functional healthy, Steinstad concludes.
