Oslo Bislett Games and One Mile are synonyms in international athletics. No matter what the meeting has been called and no matter who has been the sponsor; One Mile has a long history on The World Record Track. Athletes such as Sebastian Coe, Steve Ovett and Steve Cram have all set world records at the Dream Mile at Bislett.
Enough about the story, this year, it is the home favourite Jakob Ingebrigtsen who is the big attraction. The 1500-meter Olympic Champion from Tokyo last summer will be joined by middle brother Filip and Ferdinand Kvan Edman - while the foreign challengers will be led by Kenyan Abel Kipsang - supplemented by, among others, Spanish Mohamed Katir, Australian Stewart McSweyn and Oliver Hoare and Polish Michael Romzy.
The European record of Steve Cram in 3: 46.32 - from Bislett and then world record and the track record of Hicham El Guerrouj in 3: 44.90 are two results to remember ... if someone can help assist a bit on the way.
Should Jakob win the race, it will be the first victory for some of the brothers at the Oslo Bislett Games. Neither Henrik, Filip nor Jakob have managed this so far. Time to do something about it Jacob?
