Jakob is chasing record number four

He picks them down. One after another. The European records. At the age of only 20, Jakob Ingebrigtsen is already one of the biggest stars in the international athletics circus. And he grows every day.

He holds the European record at the 1500 meters with 3: 28.68, at the 2000 meters from last year’s Impossible Games with 4: 50.01 and at the 5000 meters from Florence recently with 12: 48.45. In 3000 meters he is number two with 7: 27.05, but at the Mile he is “only” in 32nd place with 3: 51.20 – and “only” number three in the family.

So far.

For it is quite clear that both middle brother Filip’s (running the 3000 meters) Norwegian record and family record of 3: 49.60, and Steve Cram’s Europe record of 3: 46.32 – set at Bislett in July 1985 – live dangerously. Record number four can quickly become a reality next Thursday.

A strong line up with Ugandan Ronald Musagala, Polish Marcin Lewandowski and Australian Stewart McSweyn makes four of the top ten in the world rankings in place
