Dafne Bound for Bislett

The Netherlands’ “Golden Girl”, Dafne Schippers, the reigning World 200m Champion, will return to Bislett Stadium on the 15 June to compete in the 200m at the Oslo Bislett Games.

Twelve months ago, the tall Dutch sprinter shocked the athletic world with a truly brilliant performance at the Bislett stadium. Competing in the 200m in very chilly conditions, Schippers produced one of the more remarkable performances of the Diamond League season. Her time of 21.93 was not only a world leading mark at the time, but she also convincingly defeated the subsequent Olympic Champion Elaine Thompson of Jamaica.

Since then, Dafne Schippers has defended her European 100m title in Amsterdam and won a hard-fought silver medal in the 200m at the Rio Olympic Games.

Earlier this year, her home town of Utrecht in the Netherlands celebrated her success by opening the Dafne Schippersbrug (the Dafne Schippers Bridge) .

To help make this a more memorable occasion, Dafne will celebrate her 25th birthday on the 15th of June, the day of the Oslo Bislett Games.

Did you know that Dafne won a bronze medal in Heptathlon at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow ?
