100th anniversary Bislett Stadium

Six World records was set in the nineties. Yobes Ondieki KEN was the first man to break the 27 minutes barrier in the 10 000 m, with 26.58,38 in 1992. The year after his fellow countryman William Sigei, improved the WR to 26.52,23. In 1997 the great Ethiopian runner Haile Gebrselassie lowers the 10 000 m WR to 26.31,32. In 1994 the World Championship in half marathon is held in Oslo, finishing at Bislett Stadium. Elana Meyer RSA in the women’s race and Khalid Skah MAR in the men’s race became World Champions.
